Happy New Year!!! Happy New Chapter!!!

Well, friends, it has been a really long time since I have posted. Many changes have come along: we have a new district consisting of Kaufman and Van Zandt Counties; therefore, a new chapter. Our name, Soquili, was submitted by Michael Mynxx. Soquili (pronounced Show-gwee-lee) is the Cherokee word for horse. Years ago, our district was called the Yellow Horse District, so we are paying homage to that district of long ago. Our totem is the yellow horse. Our new officers for 2012 were elected in October. Now 2012 is here and our new chapter will begin. See you at the chapter meeting on January 12th!

Wow Finally!

Hey guys, well as you most likely heard from Mrs. Johnson and due to a strange order of events I'm your new Vice chief of Technology! And must I say that there has been loads of STUFF since I was appointed this position! For instance (note these are the events that I've attended)
1) OA Pow Wow at camp wisdom (awesome!)
2) Spring Camporee
3) Parents and Pals weekend (OA campfire planed by moi)
4) March Ordeal Weekend
Lets just say that its been an awesome time!

The OA Pow Wow was an amazing event for those of you who didn't go, but for those of you who did HI FIVE! cause you guys know what I'm talking about! The day consisted of the scouts doing different activities and taking different classes, and the evening consisted of an amazing pow wow (this coming' from a guy whose never seen one before!) getting out there in the circle hearing and feeling the beat of the drums and dancing like the Native Americans was an amazing feeling to have!

Next
The 2011 spring camporee was a great one, but as usual the call out team blew it out of the park! I've never seen a more convincing and realistic ceremony than that night, it was awesome! Great job guys!

The Parents and pals weekend wasn't really an OA event, but I planned and with the help of Michael Mynxx, Cody Frick, and John Griffin put on in the words of Mrs. Judy Johnson "an awesome campfire and four winds ceremony". Also that night we held a flag retirement ceremony where my awesome mom and I played Taps on our Trumpets.

And finally! The March ordeal was an ordeal to remember!
Even though I didn't see much of the ordeal [mostly because was in the best bistro in the council! :)] from what I heard and saw everything that the candidates did it was awesome! And after breakfast on Sunday morning I saw all of our new and old members together gives me an awesome feeling to see that so many people are dedicated to the BSA and the OA!

Well Guys, be looking for my next posts and get involved on these fun events!

I am so far behind!!!

I am embarassed at how far behind I am on posting!! Well, the good thing is that the chapter has a new Vice Chief of Technology, Kyle Bennett, who will be helping out in this endeavor! He will be posting about our latest adventure: Parents and Pals Western Day campfire! Kyle planned and put on this campfire with other members of the chapter and it was AWESOME!! Then, I will do so updating and adding pictures of our other activities!!

Lodge Leadership Retreat

Our new Chapter Chief, Michael Mynxx, and Mr. Johnson attended the Lodge Leadership Retreat at Camp Cherokee on Oct. 23rd. So now they are trained and Michael is gonna be a great chief.....and Mrs. Johnson made some really cool garlic bread.

Special Ordeal Ceremony for a Special Guy!

Okay, so Mr. Smyth had this little chain saw accident at his ordeal (for some reason, Camp Wisdom and the Smyth family just can't get it together...they have issues...). So, our wonderful ceremony guys made a special trip to his house and had a beautiful Ordeal Ceremony in his backyard....with the lake in the background.....it was awesome.
